About Us

Impact Northland Trust is a community-based charitable organisation based in Te Tai Tokerau, Aotearoa. We exist to walk alongside rangatahi and whānau, providing real support, real relationships, and real opportunities for change.

Our services include life coaching, mentoring, education and employment pathway support, and activity-based programmes for youth aged 11–24. We also run Milk & Honey Collective — our up-and-coming social enterprise that offers practical training in retail, barbering, and beauty, while supporting young entrepreneurs to grow their own small businesses.

What drives us is simple: he tangata, he tangata, he tangata — it is people, it is people, it is people. Our team is made up of individuals with lived experience, deep community roots, and a shared belief that every young person has potential worth investing in.

We’re here to help rangatahi not only survive, but thrive — and to build a future where our communities are strengthened by those we once supported.

Real Support. Real People. Real Outcomes.

When you work with us, you’re not just accessing a service — you’re joining a community that cares. We take the time to understand each person’s journey and walk alongside them with empathy, practical support, and a belief in their potential. Our programmes are grounded in real-world outcomes, cultural connection, and a commitment to helping rangatahi and whānau thrive long-term.

MEET THE TEAM

Powered by our people

John Tiatoa - General Manager

"My grandparents’ dedication to serving others during my upbringing inspires me to lead with transparency, honesty, and humility. Their leadership style taught me to draw insights from the past to create a better future. I believe in actively listening to those I serve and aspire to encourage the next generation to prioritise the welfare of others. ‘Mā mua ka kite a muri, mā muri ka ora a mua – Those who lead give sight to those behind, those who follow give life to those ahead."

Linda Tiatoa - Operations Manager

"I think it’s important to value people. ‘He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata – What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people,’ says it all for me. I feel extremely fortunate that my work gives me an opportunity to live by this principle every day. Seeing people from all walks of life feel like they belong and are able to make a difference in their communities makes me feel really happy and fulfilled.”

Michelle Hoani-Heihei - Life Coach

“Growing up, my dream was to become a model (it didn’t work out as planned). My younger brother once told me, ‘Sis, you are a model! You’re a role model!’ With that being said, I count it an honour to work with Ngāpuhi taitamariki and have an input in their lives. It’s important to lead a good example of role modelling, and I believe the younger generation of today are capable of greatness tomorrow. They are the role models of our future.”

Brian Hoani-Heihei - Life Coach

“Being born and bred in Te Tai Tokerau and growing up on my papakāinga in Kerikeri, this is definitely my tūrangawaewae. I come from a family of big families, which has given me a lot of experience and exposure with communities, helping me to love and understand the dynamics and value that we all bring to the table. Together we have so much to offer. Naku te rourou, nau te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi – With my basket and your basket, together we will prosper.”

Jess Pearson

“My career background includes Nursing, Hospitality and Early Childcare Education, and using the skills and experiences gained in these professions has shaped me into the individual I am today. I’ve learnt that mistakes are important life lessons — we all make them — and I am here to support youth to reflect, gain new perspectives, and step outside their comfort zones. I feel exceptionally blessed to be Mum to a 16-year-old boy. Alongside my husband, we’ve supported him to navigate life’s challenges with integrity, values, and kindness. Being a parent and wife were my two greatest successes to date, and now, as a Life Coach, I’ve found my third calling. My intention is to be a role model, a listening ear, and a guiding presence who helps rangatahi navigate their aspirations into real training and work opportunities.”
